CEBioForum 2025 — two days full of energy, inspiration, and tangible actions!
We’ve just wrapped up an exceptional edition of CEBioForum 2025, which brought together 550 participants representing over 220 companies and institutions from around the world. These were two intense days filled with countless meetings, fruitful discussions, and the building of partnerships that will drive the growth of biotechnology in the years to come.
This year’s Forum responded to the dynamic shifts in global and European biotechnology. In the face of worldwide political and economic changes, participants focused on strengthening Europe’s position through effective financing, regulatory changes, and strategic partnerships. Key discussions revolved around breakthrough solutions based on AI and data in drug discovery, precision medicine, and longevity, as well as the role of biotechnology in sustainable development and the circular economy. The importance of collaboration between startups, SMEs, CDMOs, and big pharma was also emphasized, alongside the latest investment trends and approaches to risk assessment in financing biotech projects.
CEBioForum 2025 not only inspired its participants but also provided them with practical tools and clear directions to further advance their projects and collectively shape the future of innovation, health, and economic growth in the industry.
Keynotes and a Debate on the Future of the European Biotech Sector
The conference was opened by Magdalena Kulczycka, President of BioForum, who emphasized the vital role of biotechnology in building Europe’s competitive advantage and the sector’s global impact on health, the environment, and the economy. She was followed by Claire Skentelbery, Director General of EuropaBio, who highlighted the need for stronger collaboration within the European biotech ecosystem to better respond to the dynamic challenges of the market and policy landscape. Both days of the conference began with inspiring keynotes — Salim Essakali from Qiagen and Torben V. Borchert from the Novo Nordisk Foundation — who perfectly demonstrated how the synergistic cooperation between science and business strengthens Europe’s position on the global biotech stage.
A key highlight of the program was the closed-door Round Table meeting organized by EuropaBio, which brought together industry leaders to discuss the future of investment in the European biotechnology and life sciences sectors. In the context of the new 2024–2029 European Commission term and upcoming strategies for startups, scale-ups, and biotech, the discussions focused on the need for better alignment of public policies with market realities, simplifying state aid regulations, and strengthening the connections between European clusters to enable local innovations to successfully scale to a global level.
Across eight panel discussions, key topics were addressed, including: strengthening Europe’s competitiveness through financing and partnerships, leveraging AI and data in drug discovery and longevity therapies, the role of biotechnology in sustainable development, and the synergies between startups, SMEs, and large pharmaceutical companies in the commercialization of innovation. The BioTech Presentations and B2B networking sessions also attracted significant interest, serving as a platform for establishing new connections and fostering business collaboration.

- The title of “Most Influencing Person” was awarded to Prof. Maciej Żylicz, a renowned biochemist and mentor to generations of scientists, recognized for his contributions to the development of Polish biotechnology as President of the Foundation for Polish Science, a role he has held for the past 20 years.
- The Jury Award went to Vaxican sp. z o.o., the creator of innovative cancer vaccines based on VLP technology, which activate the immune system with unprecedented precision and safety.

“What truly inspired me was the passion and determination of people from all across Europe. We are speaking with one voice, not just as a region, but as a united community. Now it’s time for concrete actions,” summarized Karolina Jarosińska from ExecMind. As one of the participants aptly put it: “CEBioForum is a space where science meets business, and innovative ideas turn into real projects.”
This year’s CEBioForum was held under the honorary patronage of: the Ministry of Development and Technology, the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy, the Mayor of Warsaw, the National Centre for Research and Development, the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, the University of Warsaw, and the Medical Research Agency.
